How to report a death

We’re sorry to hear of your loss. We’d like to make the next steps as easy as we possibly can to help you at this time.
To let us know that a member of GEAPS has died, please contact our administrators Barnett Waddingham (contact details at the bottom of this page).

The team will need:

  • Member’s date of birth
  • Member’s address
  • Member’s full name (including middle names)
  • Date of death
  • Member number if you know it

They’ll also ask you to confirm:

  • Your full name and title
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • Your connection/relationship to the deceased
  • If you know whether the deceased has a spouse or dependent children
  • Member’s next of kin’s name & address
  • Executor
  • Legal representative’s contact details
  • Whether probate is being applied for

Next steps:

The team will need documents that verify the member’s death, usually a death certificate. Barnett Waddingham will guide you through the next steps which may include processing benefits to beneficiaries and updating records.
